Many outdoor gear brands have a love-hate relationship with Black Friday deals.

And, I’m kinda with them.

I’d typically rather encourage you to be outside or with your friends and family than shopping. I’m also a proponent for getting started with what you have, renting, or borrowing. Especially until you know you love the sport.

But I also know that once you fall in love with the outdoors, adventuring in all-weather means, you do need to invest in quality gear. And that can get expensive quickly. Especially if you’re shopping for an entire family.

I also know that that statement about “no bad weather, only bad gear” is pretty much spot on. Let’s just say without the quality gear I’ve invested in over the last several years, I’d be spending a lot more of our Pacific Northwest winters inside.

Even though I have a bit of that love-hate relationship with the holiday, I also know that these sales can reduce the cost barrier to actually getting you outside. Which is the entire point of this site.

So if you’re looking for the perfect snow pants, want to make sure you have exactly what you need for camping, or are looking for a holiday gift for the outdoor lovers in your life, this list is for you.

I’m going to share our top pics on the best Black Friday deals in 2021, including sales and discounts that start early, Cyber Monday, or even those stretching into December and beyond. I’ve pulled out our top picks from our favorite outdoor retailers and included the sales dates wherever possible to help you plan accordingly.

Note: This post is updated each year. The original Black Friday sales are over for 2021, but you can often find great deals on these sites regardless. Bookmark or pin this page to come back to in 2022 for updated 2022 outdoor gear deals!

WANDRD Adventure Backpacks & Camera Bags

WANDRD makes quality backpacks and camera bags that are designed for adventurers and travelers. We have the WANDRD VEER and love it for travel because of its lightweight, packable design., but I’ve also had my eye on the FERNWEH Backpacking Bag and the ROAM 9L Sling as well.

Whether you’re looking for a travel backpack or a camera cubes, you’re sure to find a good deal during this sale.

MyMedic

When it comes to what you need to bring hiking, carrying the 10 Essentials is at the top of the list. My Medic has 10 Essential Kits, premade First Aid Kits, and supplies to replenish existing kits (or create your own). These also make great gifts for anyone who loves outdoor activities.

Mountain Hardwear

As outdoor enthusiasts, one of our favorite brands for quality outdoor gear is Mountain Hardwear. We’ve been impressed with their quality and long-term value. Some of our favorites are their down jackets, rain jackets, and pants. In particular, I love my Ghost Whisperer, John loves the Men’s Exposure Jacket, and my husband and I both have a pair of Acadia Rain Pants.

Harvest Hosts

If you own an RV and haven’t heard of Harvest Hosts, you’re going to want to check them out. Harvest Hosts is an RV membership for self-contained RVers that gives you access to unique stays as part of your membership.

Essentially the way it works is you pay an annual membership fee (usually $99) and get access to their network of locations, including wineries, farms, distilleries, attractions, breweries, and more. You get to stay overnight for no fee, but they ask that you make a purchase while you’re there.

It’s already a stellar deal, but they are offering 20% off their annual membership as part of their Happy Holidays Sale (11/22/2021-12/31/2021), making it an even better deal!

Read more about Harvest Hosts and grab 20% off your annual membership.

The House

Another place to find great deals on outdoor gear for your adventures is The House.

The best part? They also have already discounted gear in their outlet. 🙌

Here are a few of the best deals we found:

If you want to explore the outdoor gear deals a bit more, this link takes you straight to the outlet on The House.

Amazon

Over the years, we’ve also found some great outdoor gear deals on Amazon. They regularly have sales and events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Prime Day, but we’ve found good deals all year round!

evo

evo is a company started here in the Pacific Northwest. They are still one of our favorite places to find outdoor products and gear. We’ve always been impressed with their customer service, have had no issues with returns, and shipping is typically fast.

If you’re ready, you can check out all the outdoor gear on sale here

KEEN

KEEN has already started its holiday sale with early Black Friday deals as part of its 12 Days of KEEN. You can get 30% off select styles on their website. We have always been a fan of KEEN, especially for our kids’ hiking shoes. They regularly make it through both kids or have plenty of life left to resell.

In particular, we love that their sandals are washable! All four of us have sandals from KEEN, and they were in regular use all summer long for camping, hiking, paddleboarding, and days at the river or lake. Over the years, the Newport Sandals have been a style we have bought repeatedly as the kids outgrew them, but honestly they’ve loved them all.

Nomadik

Nomadik is a gear subscription box that could make an excellent gift for that outdoorsy person you know who is hard to buy for (or you could just treat yo’self!)

Roofnest

We have a Roofnest Falcon XL on our Scout Kenai, and we love how easy it is to set up and how comfortable the bed is. It’s also surprisingly roomy. Our kids sleep with more than enough room, and we could even put all 4 of us in the tent in a pinch.

Rumpl

Rumpl makes some of my favorite blankets ever (I’ve probably said this like 10 times in this post alone, but I’m not joking). My Rumpl pretty much goes everywhere with me. I have the Original right now, but I am drooling over the Down Puffy’s.

Check out how small this Featherlight™ Down Blanket packs down! It’s 800 fill with a DWR finish, made of 10D ripstop, and only weighs one pound.

They recently added these Merino Blankets to their line-up as well. They’re made of 50% wool and 50% organic cotton. I love that they’re reversible and have been considering one of them as an addition to our camper.

Burton

Burton’s Holiday Sale is live! Get in on the deals with up to 20% off sitewide.

When it comes to the best Burton snowboard gear, there are a lot of great choices. But, some of our favorites are these:

  • I LOVE my Kimmy 2L Bib Pant! My only complaint is that to get them to fit my hips (thanks, kids), I needed to go up a size, and they are a bit long. But it looks like Burton listened to all of us in the same boat, and they now make the Kimmy in a short, regular, and long. The waterproof and breathability ratings on these pants are fantastic. This article shares more about how to choose the best snow pants and can help you decide if the 2L or 3L versions are best for you.
  • I’m incredibly picky with shoes, and snowboard boots are no exception. My favorite boots so far have been the Women’s Burton Supreme Snowboard Boots. I get excellent heel hold, they have several zones to adjust, and they have heat reflective tech inside the liner and boot to keep my toes warmer.
  • But one of our favorites to purchase from Burton has been their Kids’ Gear. They understand what is essential in kids’ snow gear (and what parents need). From jackets to coats and boots, they make quality snow gear for kids that lasts. My favorite part, though? They build in a Room-to-Grow system to extend the sleeves and legs of outerwear, and some of their boots also have a Room-to-Grow footbed to gain a full size as kids grow. 🙌

Escape Campervans

While this one isn’t exactly outdoor gear, it does get you outside, so I couldn’t leave this one off the list. If you’ve been around for a bit, you know we’ve loved the chance to test out van life by renting a couple of campervans. We haven’t used Escape Campervans specifically, but we love campervans and this could be a great way to try them out!

Can’t find the dates you wanted or looking for a little different setup? Try Outdoorsy. They aren’t running any deals that we could find, but you can find a couple of our favorite campervan rental companies on there. We took a campervan from Wandervans to Yellowstone a couple of years ago, and we’ve done a couple of trips in the PNW with ROAMERICA.
