The Best Gifts for Snowboarders
It’s no secret that snowboarders love getting new gear, but you want to make sure you’re giving them a thoughtful gift that they’ll actually use, right?! So, grab a cup of coffee or tea, get comfortable, choose the list that most fits your budget, and dig in to find an excellent gift for the snowboarder in your life.
Snowboarding Gifts Under $25
- One Ball Jay Rub-On Wax – Great for when you need a little wax on the go and can’t do a hot wax.
- One Ball Jay 4WD Wax – One of our favorite hot waxes and we typically have different temperature wax on hand so we can be prepared for changes in the weather.
- Hand and Foot Warmers – For those prone to cold feet and hands, these hand warmers can be a lifesaver! We also use these for keeping Garrett’s epinephrine at the right temp in the cold, next to our phones when it’s super chilly, and we send them with the kids to clinic in their pockets just in case they need them.
- Rechargeable Hand Warmers – A more eco-friendly option than disposable hand warmers, a rechargeable option like this one will stay warm up to 12-hours. Plus, it gets warmer than disposable options.
- Stomp Pads – I love these Burton Large Scraper Stomp Pads for excellent traction when getting off the lift, but Crab Grab stomp pads (in particular the skate rails) are another house favorite.
- Pocket Snacks – Snacks are so important to keep everyone happy…especially if you ride with kids. Some of our favorites are FBombs, Larabars, and MadeGood snacks. We choose these allergy-friendly snacks because everyone in our family can enjoy them and gets the fuel they need to sustain them for a day on the slopes. And, if a meltdown is imminent, you can’t go wrong with a few Skittles to brighten up the day.
- Snowboard Tool – It’s never fun to have loose bindings in the middle of a run. This tool can be tossed in a pocket to make adjustments as needed on the slopes.
- Face Mask – Face masks are still required at many ski resorts, so a good, breathable mask that can be worn on the slopes or inside the lodge is a great option.
- Collabsible water bottle – We love collapsible water bottles like this because they can fit in a jacket pocket, and when they are empty, they take up little to no space.
Snowboarding Gifts Under $50
- Wool Socks – Warm socks designed explicitly for snowboarding make a day on the mountain so much better. Burton, Stance, and Smartwool are our favorite brands. We tend to prefer socks that have a specific right and left sock. It seems minor, but when a sock fits each foot perfectly, you’re able to focus on your riding and don’t waste time fiddling with socks. My personal favorites are merino wool or a wool blend becuase they keep my feet much warmer on cold days.
- Buffs – John has his own built-in buff…er, beard. The rest of us, however, need a little something to help cut the cold from our face. 🥶 Buffs are great as neck warmers, but can also be pulled up over your face, to keep warm. We lean towards a light or midweight wool buff on the cool days and polar fleece on the super cold and windy days.
- Airholes – Airholes are like a buff, but take it one step further and give you a spot to breathe in and out of, keeping you from getting that stuffy feeling…or having them freeze to your face.
- Beanies – Beanies are a must. There are so many great options, but we are never disappointed with our Volcom snow gear. We wear them to and from the mountain, around the lodge, and basically all winter.
- Hoodies – Every single one of us has multiple hoodies. John has one from Northwest Riders (this link is currently unavailable as of 10/24/21, but I’m hoping that will change!) that is also water-resistant and one of his winter favorites. But, Volcom is always a fav as well.
Snowboarding Gifts Under $100
- Tuning Kit – Give them the essentials to maintain their quiver at home.
- Youth Airblaster Ninja Suit – If you’re buying for a little grom, these are our go-to. They come in many different colors and patterns and the kids love them!
- Dakine Boot Pack DLX – Make packing up for a day at the mountain easier with this boot pack. There’s room for boots, gloves, helmet, lunch, and more in this awesome bag….we love it so much that we have four! When we upgraded to individual snowboard bags for our gear, it was a game-changer. It’s one of the best options to keep your gear organized, and carry everything from boots to an extra base layer.
- Tuning Vises – Great for waxing and any other maintenance while getting boards ready for the mountain.
- Warm Mittens – Crab Grab, Dakine, Pow, or similar tend to be our favorites, and for the adults, we tend to go with leather. Occasionally, we buy nice gloves for the kids. Still, it’s not uncommon for us to stock up on inexpensive Costco options so that when they lose one, or bite holes in them it’s no big deal.
- Boot Dryer – For multiple days in a row on the slopes, a boot dryer makes things so much easier. We love these options from Dry Guy and Maxx Dry because we can dry four items at once. No lingering moisture the next day makes for a much more pleasant experience!
Snowboarding Gifts Over $100
- Airblaster Ninja Suit – I know I already mentioned these for the youth, but the adult version is completely worth it, too. Every single one of us has at least two of these. They are hands-down, our favorite baselayer. When you click the links, check around at different sizes and color options, and you may even find a killer deal. We’ve gotten some as low as $30 when we were lucky!
- Puffy Skirt – After a day of riding, a puffy skirt is a great way to stay warm around town and on the way home on cold winter deals. I have one like this from Skhoop, and it is incredibly toasty.
- Snowboards – No one complains about adding another board to their quiver! We are huge fans of Gnu, Jones, LibTech, and Never Summer around here. For toddlers and little ones who are just learning, we love the Burton Riglet.
- GoPro Hero10 – It’s so much fun to take video and pictures of your days on the slopes and GoPro is pretty much the best option out there. It is built to take a beating, stand up to the weather, and takes incredible footage. Plus, they have several different ways to mount the camera to make it easy to capture video.
- Snowboarding Boots – A comfortable pair of boots is worth it’s weight in gold. Though, this one can be a bit hard to shop for, unless you already know exactly what your rider likes. That said, most companies have excellent return policies, especially around the holidays, and even if they aren’t perfect, it really is the thought that counts. For a good starting point, that won’t disappoint, these are the best boots I’ve ever owned and John has a pair of these from a few years ago that he LOVES.
- Snowboarding Jacket – This is hands down my favorite jacket I’ve ever had (John loves this one – and it’s on sale right now!), but if you want more guidance we have an entire article on choosing the perfect jacket for cold weather. Regardless, make sure it has thumb loops. Seriously. I know it sounds silly, but it’s a dealbreaker for me now. It makes getting your gloves and layers just right so. much. easier.
- Backcountry Gear – If you know an advanced skier or rider, they may be ready to branch into backcountry skiing or riding. Things like a beacon, probe, and shovel would make a great gift idea to keep them safe in the backcountry.
- Snow Goggles & Helmet – A good pair of goggles is the best thing for visibility on the slopes. When I upgraded a couple years ago, it was night and day the difference it made. However, a couple things to keep in mind is that typically goggles should be tried on with a helmet to ensure you don’t have a gap and that the safest helmets have MIPS. Thankfully, you can find options that are paired to fit perfectly.
Final Thoughts on the Best Gifts for Snowboarders
No matter your budget, we hope you’ve found something on this list of gifts for the snowboarders in your life.
In case you need a couple of last ideas, what about lift tickets or season passes to their local resort? Or, grab Indy Passes for them so they can visit many resorts for a low cost. And, if you’re still stumped a gift card to REI or evo may be the perfect choice.
Or, if not, they might find splitboarding gear or a pow surfer just as awesome! And, for an even more unique gift, grab them a DIY Throwback Snowboard.
Before we started buying season passes during spring sale, one of our favorite gifts to receive were lift tickets to our local mountain…the more days to ride, the better!
